THE PROCESS
DESIGN PROCESS
Brandee and her family grow or forage for all of the plants and flowers in her designs. She then uses a home made flower press to press the botanicals. Once dried and pressed flat, they are sorted and organized for easy finding later on. When she is ready to create new items, she starts by deciding what media and natural elements she will use. This could be a mix of things like flowers, plants, feathers, bezels, wire, resin, etc. Each design is unique because the botanicals and feathers are all unique like a fingerprint. No two are exactly alike.
GROWN
Brandee lives in the mountains of Northern California with her Family. Gardening has always been one of her passions. She grows over 200 edible and medicinal herbs along with countless flowering plants, trees and bushes. Over the years she started pressing the flowers and plants and keeping them stored away for use someday. Now that she has turned her passion for plants and nature into a hobby/business she uses botanicals from her beautiful garden to create her unique jewelry.
FORAGED
A lover of nature walks always comes home with a pocket full of treasures. A bit of moss fallen from a tree, a blue jay feather, a wildflower or two, a pretty pebble... Brandee has always been a nature lover and often forages near her home with her Husband for gooseberries, raspberries, thimbleberries, and elderberries. Along the way treasures were always found. They sat in a box for craft use someday. But, once her Mother In Law got a Peacock on her farm (he was a rescue) she started collecting his molted feathers which were scattered everywhere. This was the final bit of inspiration needed for her to make the leap into creating jewelry out of these treasures.
